South Los Angeles Movement (SLAM) Prevention Coalition

Formerly known as the SPA 6 Coalition, the SLAM Coalition is a collaborative of South LA community-based organizations. Individually and collectively, they provide prevention education, outreach, and resources that increase awareness and help to reduce underage use of marijuana, tobacco, alcohol, and prescription drugs.

The SafeMed LA Coalition is a broad, cross-sector coalition that will take a coordinated and multi-pronged approach to comprehensively address the prescription drug abuse epidemic in Los Angeles County, guided by its five-year strategic plan. This includes information dissemination, providing education and training, and serving as a resource for proper disposal of  unused or expired medication. As a member of the SLAM Prevention Coalition, SCPC also partners with the DEA twice a year to host a drop-off site for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, in South Los Angeles.
