Serving South Los Angeles for 24 Years! 2000 - 2024
South Central Prevention Coalition (SCPC) is a vision made reality by our Founder and former Executive Director, Ms. Sharon Blackburn (2000 -2018). SCPC started as a project of the Community Coalition for Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment. It was initialized to combat the prevailing alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse problems that were present in several low-to-moderate income housing developments in South Central Los Angeles.
South Central Prevention Coalition is a collaboration of community-based organizations and social service representatives that serve community members living in SPA 6 - South Los Angeles. Our focus is to provide program services reflective of societal trends and its impact on our youth, adult and senior residents. Through program activities that promote healthy and positive strategies for our residents, it is our vision to enable and empower them to become prevention advocates in their own communities.
