Life Skills Training
South Central Prevention Coalition (SCPC) has worked with Dangerfield Institute for Urban Problems since 2020, bringing Botvin’s evidence based Life Skills Training - High School and Transitions programs to four of their group homes for youth.
As of 2024, SCPC will also co-facilitate LST High School alongside Community Coalition (CoCo), to youth participating in their South Central Youth Empowered thru Action (SCYEA) program and SLAM Coalition’s, Youth Council.
LIFE SKILLS TRAINING (LST), HIGH SCHOOL
The Life Skills Training, High School program uses developmentally appropriate, collaborative learning strategies to help students achieve competency in the skills that have been shown to prevent substance use, violence, and other health risk behaviors. The curriculum is designed to strengthen student abilities in personal self-management skills, general social skills, and drug resistance skills.
LIFE SKILLS TRAINING (LST), TRANSITIONS
The Life Skills Training, Transitions program helps youth and young adults navigate the transition into the workforce and/or higher education. LST Transitions helps participants achieve competency in the skills that not only are key to success but also have been found to reduce and prevent substance use and violence.
